We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Credit Controller to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s credit control processes, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, and maintaining positive relationships with clients. You will play a key role in minimising financial risk and ensuring the company’s cash flow remains healthy.

Responsibilities / Key Deliverables

  • Oversee and maintain debtor ledger for global customer accounts including Intercompany ledgers
  • Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure timely payments are received
  • Conduct credit checks and assess the creditworthiness of new and existing clients
  • Generate invoices, statements, and payment reminders
  • Undertake regular customer account reconciliations and resolve balancing items
  • Follow up on overdue accounts through phone calls, emails, and correspondence
  • Negotiate payment plans with clients as necessary while ensuring company policies are adhered to
  • Maintain accurate records of all communications and transactions with clients
  • Collaborate with the sales team/customer care to resolve any disputes regarding invoices or payments
  • Prepare regular reports on outstanding debts and payment status for management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of credit control policies, procedures and systems
  • Stay updated on industry trends and legal regulations related to credit control and collections

Core Competencies

  • University degree preferable but not essential
  • Proven experience as a credit controller or in a similar financial role
  • Strong understanding of credit control processes and debt collection best practices.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with Microsoft Navision or Business Central would be beneficial
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills for success in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills paired with good problem-solving & analytical skills.

Dimension of the role

Reporting to the Financial Controller and based from the NaughtOne head office in Harrogate, the role holder will be part of an immediate team of five.

We are able to support WFH for up to 2 days / week. Given the global nature of our customer base, flexibility around hours will be required however core hours will need to be adhered to.
