naughtone is a furniture design, manufacture and sales business based in Yorkshire, with showrooms in London, Chicago and West Yorkshire. We design the majority of our products in house and manufacture our upholstery products in our factory in Elland, West Yorkshire.

Our Global clients are some of the most influential and brands in commerce and culture, such as Google, Amazon and Etsy. Combined with Herman Miller, naughtone has an aggressive National and International growth strategy, including manufacturing in multiple global locations. This is an exciting time to join already well respected British company as London Design and Build Sales Person, based in London.

The role:

  • To meet and exceed the financial and activity goals as set individually by the UK Sales Manager.
  • Through focused activity, the job is to develop interest and create buying potential for naughtone products with dealers who are Design and Build Companies. To involve and co-ordinate naughtone resources, and when appropriate, dealer resources against sales opportunities.
  • To take ownership and be accountable for the opportunity until point of order.
  • To provide accurate forecasting information in a timely manner and other useful market information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop strategic sales plan to manage and drive forward naughtone’s existing relationships with London Design and Build practices.
  • Build market share within the Design and Build network, with focus on key new contacts and practices, communicating these plans to the UK Sales Manager.
  • To maintain and grow relationships within the sector
  • To own the day to day relationship and to be the prime commercial contact of choice with the Design and Build dealers, at all levels.
  • Leverage relationships with Design and Build practices to keep informed about their projects and to help create leads for naughtone during the design stage, before they go out to bid.
  • Responsible for organising and implementing Product Technical Knowledge and training with assigned accounts.
  • Gain an understanding of the furniture market, all relevant activity and to build relationships with key influencers.
  • To provide accurate and timely reports to the UK Sales Manager.
  • Collaborate with the UK Sales Manager to develop strategies relating to Design and Build practices.
  • To work with Product Development and Marketing teams to consistently communicate business and design trends, consumer and trade attitudes, competitive practices and product performance.
  • Acquire product and program knowledge to ensure full personal capability to communicate naughtone’s differentiators and those of our products / programs against competitors.
  • Attend and participate in trade and industry events to increase client knowledge of naughtone, keep up to date on the marketplace and competitive activity, and to cultivate and maintain relationships with Design and Build practices.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and maintain positive relationships with all naughtone clients and customers, both internal and external.
  • Expertise and experience in selling to the design community
  • Strong presentation skills to audiences of all sizes
  • Must be able to communicate succinctly and fluently, in a compelling manner in both verbal and written forms
  • Must be numerate in the preparation of quotations and forecast information, with strong technical skills and attention to detail, to be able to generate accurate quotations and tenders
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential
  • Ability to analyse market conditions and competition, and to develop strategic responses to opportunities
  • Must be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Listening skills, communications skill, energy and enthusiasm
  • Must be flexible to maximise business opportunities as they arise
  • Demonstrated expertise in the principles of collaborative sales technique
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the sales territory and be flexible to work long hours when required, such as early starts, evening events and the occasional overnight stay away from home.

Education and experience:

  • Minimum A Level of Higher Education.
  • Successful track record with ideally 2+ relevant sales years experience, preferably within the manufacturing/ design sector, with a strong network of existing contacts
  • Driving license – 6 points maximum
