A newly created role within naughtone, the Supplier Quality Engineer will work closely with Suppliers, Engineering, Operations & Production teams in the UK & overseas. You will be responsible for developing relationships, implementing and maintaining quality control measures throughout the production process to maximise efficiencies.


Responsibilities / Key Deliverables

  • Provide support to manufacturing to develop effective procedures/work instructions that meet the requirements of ISO9001 and other quality and environmental management standards.
  • Supplier Management to include approval of supplier, supplier audits and driving improvement in the supply chain.
  • Implementation of effective corrective actions through robust root cause analysis and facilitation.
  • Develop NCR process to help drive improvements to products and processes.
  • Implement methodologies for establishing “cost of quality”.
  • Create visual awareness of quality metrics and communication to the business.
  • Develop & execute a process audit plan.
  • Review the business to ensure department methodologies, processes and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Continuously improve the quality of externally supplied parts and manage the qualification of new parts or changes to parts.
  • Ensure all quality, production and assembly documents are maintained to the latest issue and available at all locations globally.
  • Work as part of the NPD team to help guide design decisions as representative of production and quality.
  • Develop and support continuous improvement activities across the business.


Core Competencies 

  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in a manufacturing tier 1 supplier organisation
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Advanced Vocational Qualification ie HND in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experienced in manufacturing processes including wood & metal fabrication and injection moulding
  • Experience of Core Quality Tools and good understanding of standard problem-solving Tools and Techniques
  • Knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment and techniques
  • Practical understanding of common manufacturing quality control methods
  • Capable of preparation, development and review of project quality plans
  • Able to grasp technical issues quickly and lead and assist in problem solving activities
  • Pro-active and self-motivated with an ability to work using own initiative to achieve demanding deadlines
  • Able to communicate in a constructive manner with personnel at various levels within the organisation and with customer and supplier representatives
  • A structured and methodical work style
  • Excellent computer skills including proficient in MS office programs.

Dimension of the role

Reporting to the Head of Design & Engineering, the role is based in our Knaresborough office, but in the current climate you may be required to work from home. A full driving licence is required for the role as it requires travel in the UK to the Production factory and to Supplier sites as well as international travel, primarily to the US.
