The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for shaping and securing the long-term supply base globally to support business growth, resilience, and cost competitiveness. This role focuses on global sourcing, commodity management, and technical sourcing support for new products.

Responsibilities / Key Deliverables

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new global suppliers to reduce supply chain risk.
  • Develop sourcing strategies across key spend categories and product groups.
  • Build a robust, geographically diverse supply base.

Global Commodity Management

  • Track and analyse global commodity markets (e.g., timber, metals, fabrics).
  • Lead price negotiations based on market insights and cost drivers.
  • Develop forward-buying or hedging strategies where applicable.

New Product Introduction (NPI) Support

  • Support quoting and costing for new product development.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and operations to ensure cost-effective sourcing solutions.
  • Drive Design for Manufacture & Cost (DFM/DfC) initiatives.

Supplier Innovation & Localisation

  • Drive localisation strategies to support overseas manufacturing and market expansion.
  • Partner with suppliers to introduce new materials, processes, and innovations.

Risk Management

  • Assess and mitigate supply chain risks through dual sourcing, supplier audits, and contingency planning.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in strategic sourcing, category management, or global procurement.
  • Experience with international supplier sourcing and contract negotiation
  • Experience tracking commodities
  • Technical understanding of products/materials (ideally within furniture or manufacturing)
  • Experience supporting NPI and product costing processes.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, design, operations)
  • Proficiency of MS Office & ideally, experience of MS Dynamics NAV
  • Commercial acumen with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communicator; excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Self-motivated; can work independently & collaboratively as part of a wider team
  • Strong organisational & time management skills; proven ability to prioritise tasks

 

Dimension of role

Based from either the NaughtOne Head Office at Central House in Harrogate or from the Production Factory in Batley, this is a full-time permanent position reporting directly to the Head of Operations.

The role holder will be expected to collaborate closely with the whole of the Operations function as well as the Client Experience team.
