We’re thrilled to share that our Pippin chair has been awarded a 2025 Green Good Design Award! It’s a proud moment for all of us at NaughtOne – and for the brilliant designer behind Pippin, Lucy Kurrein.
For a bit of context, the Green Good Design Awards are no small thing. They’re part of the long-standing Good Design Awards program, originally founded in 1950 by design legends Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen. The ‘Green’ version specifically celebrates design that moves the world toward a more sustainable future. That was exactly the intent with Pippin.
Lucy designed Pippin to do more than just look good and feel comfortable (though it definitely does both). We wanted to create a lounge chair that reflects our commitment to circular design – something flexible, repairable, and future-friendly.
Unlike many upholstered chairs, which are often glued and stapled together (making them nearly impossible to disassemble or recycle), Pippin is built differently. It’s completely free of glue and staples. Every component can be individually repaired, replaced, or recycled, making it far easier to extend the product’s life – or give its materials a second one.
This award is a welcome reminder that design can be beautiful, comfortable and thoughtful – and that sustainability and commercial furniture don’t have to be at odds.
