Danske Bank relocated to impressive new sustainable headquarters featuring Pullman Chairs to provide safe private havens to meet, work and reflect in an open plan environment.
Danske Bank is the biggest bank in Denmark and was relocating its headquarters to contemporary offices after 150 years at their historic Holmens Kanal building. Their vision was transparent modern banking for everybody. Their new headquarters needed to be both impressive and approachable, not austere and old-fashioned.
Architects Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter were appointed to design the new headquarters and had the exciting challenge of creating one of Denmark’s largest office complexes. In one building, it needed to unite and comfortably accommodate over 6,000 Danske Bank employees from departments as diverse as banking, investments and insurance to marketing and HR functions. The design needed to not only reflect their status, but also project the persona of a progressive, collaborative working environment and culture.
The interior designers, Signal Arkitekter, knew that providing the right degree of privacy in such an open office space would require some lateral thinking. Also, employees needed comfortable acoustic oases that they could break out to and have short meetings, check their emails or have a working break. Working together with their NaughtOne local distribution partner, HOLMRIS B8, the two requirements were met in style with bespoke high-backed NaughtOne Pullman Chairs.
The architects had created a highly contemporary nuanced colour palette of blues and greys – there were no stark black or white surfaces anywhere in the building. NaughtOne was able to dovetail with the design theme with one of the 16 standard RAL colours on offer for the metal legs of the Pullman Chairs complemented by grey upholstery. We are so flexible, we also tailored the design with special wraparound armrests at no extra cost in addition to creating a bespoke lumbar support.
Beautifully engineered and exhaustively tested, Pullman Chairs come with a 10-year warranty and are made with 89.2% recycled and 75.3% reusable content. This ensured that they ticked all the architect’s durability and sustainability boxes, and also complied with the building’s impressive LEED Gold sustainability standard.
The Pullman Chairs have achieved the perfect balance between comfort, privacy and transparency, and are tailored to fit the client’s specific brief and colour palette. We hear, anecdotally, that they’ve become the most popular place to meet in the building.
